Odaimoku for all

Cool! Sent the dudes upstairs so i could have Lorus Sutra service; the came down( i think because of the drum) and chanted Odaimoku with me for a few minutes before deciding to go get some toys lol!
This is something I love about this practice we call Nichiren Buddhism, it truly is for all. You don't need to go off to a cave, forrest or monestary to realise Buddhahood you walk the path right in the life you have! There is no secret you must wait to learn or graduate to, but you can gradually awaken to Buddha nature in the midst of samsara's , struggles, dissapointments and joys. Also you may not be a scholar or clever, it's ok like Bodhisattva Never despise who was not very bookwise but had faith and steadily practiced to benefit all.
I can't always get away to silently meditate and perform long practices although I sometimes practice silent meditation for it's immediate calming and mind clearing benefits. to teach my children at a young age those practices would require super discipline (since they love to jump around so much!). I find that chanting is something even children can gravitate towards and enjoy for awhile. They tend to ask me questions when they are around during my practice and rather than pushing a view on them it's a chance to simply answer thier questions, learn from them and, enjoy each other.
my 6 year old asked " do we have to do that?" my reply is " no it's up to you , people can if they want to".
